And now, a word from our sponsor . . .

We interrupt our “Dangers of DIY Wills” series to bring you an update on our most recent adventure – the opening of our new office in Rapid City, South Dakota. Jerad and I grew up in Rapid City and after many years as Virginians we decided to move our kids to Rapid City to be closer to family. We will maintain our Leesburg office and, with the assistance of airplanes, telephones and the internet, will continue to work with our Virginia clients.

This experience has been quite the journey all ready – and we’re just getting started.  The move itself required 2 Virginia to South Dakota road trips, with children, trailers and a bulldog in tow.  The rest of the summer was a fantastic blur of unpacking, meeting new neighbors, exploring the hills with the kids, working from home, dinners with family and old friends, registering the kids for their new schools, flying back and forth to Virginia, and searching for an office space in Rapid City.

South Dakota or bust!

South Dakota or bust!

I drove this!

I drove this!

The kids started school yesterday.  The summer haze is fading and things are getting real. This week we have our first client meeting at our Rapid City office. On Sunday I am flying back to Virginia for a week of hearings and meetings with Virginia clients. Crazy? Probably. Exciting? Definitely.

We made it!

We made it!
